Watercolor Basics: Water Control
Have you ever watched helplessly as your watercolor paint spread way out on the paper or created blooms and blotches seemingly out of thin air? Or do you stick to painting wet-on-dry in order to avoid those very things? If so, this class will help you learn the fundamentals of water control. You will practice using different paint consistencies on wet, moist, damp, and dry paper to see the resulting effects. You'll also learn about timing in watercolor painting, when to use wet-on-wet vs. wet-on-dry, and how you can prevent blooms, blotches, and an overall washed-out look. You will also follow along with an instructor demo for a sunset view of the Washington Monument (see class image) at a small scale in order to put what you learn into practice as you paint both wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry.
