Sashiko Mending
Sashiko originated in Edo-period Japan as a practical and beautiful way to mend, reinforce, and insulate clothing and other textiles. Learn the history and basics of sashiko embroidery to bring new life into your loved items. No sewing experience is required to attend. Bring an item with a rip, hole, or thinning spot to mend. Sashiko works best on woven fabrics of any weight, and is a great choice for high-wear items like jeans, pants, jackets, and bags. If you have pre-washed woven fabric you would like to use for your patches, feel free to bring it, otherwise we will have some available to use.
